I recently stayed at the Springs Hotel and Spa here in downtown Bengaluru, and the location was exactly what I was looking for. If you enjoy parks, marketplaces, as well as easy access to local shopping malls, then you will also feel right at home here. The staff is extremely friendly, always having more than one person at the reception to help you. The hotel has a large lobby, including a well-kept seating area. The flower arrangements certainly add a nice splash of color against the white furniture.
When you arrive at your room, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by how spacious the rooms are, including the storage space offered. A safe is securely placed in the wardrobe, enabling you to store away any important documents or items you may have. There is also a mini refrigerator, turned on and ready to go! A tea and coffee maker is available in the room, with loads of different packets so you don’t have to continuously call room service to bring up more. Bottles of mineral water are additionally provided daily at no extra charge! There is a separate seating area in the rooms, making a great place to read the morning paper the hotel will provide you with, or sitting down to enjoy a meal.
A flat-screen T.V is available in the rooms and has a wide variety of entertainment selections available. You can choose to watch Hindi or English television shows or movies, and there is also an international news hub for channels such as BBC or CNN. If you are visiting for business purposes, the desk is quite large, offering lots of room allowing you to easily get work done.
There are paintings above the bed, bringing warmth and color into the rooms. The bed is firm and comes with many comfortable pillows! You’ll love this, especially if you like to watch T.V while lounging! The outlets next to the bed allow for you to easily use your laptop or charge your phone, without having to leave the bed. The blanket and sheets are cleaned daily upon request and a quick phone call to the reception is all it takes to ensure you receive any extras.
The bathroom is well kept, plus extremely clean! Provided by the hotel is a multitude of personal items including body lotion, shampoo, soaps, a toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, etc. However, to the women looking for an area to store any of your beauty products, I would recommend doing so at the desk available in the bedroom. The cabinets and drawers next to the mirror on the desk make a great area for extra storage. The Springs Hotel truly ensures that you have all the necessities to feel at home! Although there is not a bathtub available in the room, the shower is pretty big, offering hot water 24/7! If you need any additional downtime to relax, you can head over to their Spa for a massage, and enjoy the nice steam Jacuzzi!
The room service menu offers a wide selection of Indian, Chinese, and Continental dishes. I ordered the Nawabi Tarkari Biryani with two pieces of plain Naan bread, totaling to ₹352 ($5.33). It was filled with green peas, carrots, broccoli, and the taste was great! The only disappointment I had, was that it wasn’t as spicy as I would have preferred after a request for it to be made so, however, it still doesn’t deter me away from ordering it next time! The Naan bread was soft and warm, never reaching that unbearable overly “chewy” point. If you’re in the mood for chai after dinner, the staff informed me that their Café was only open on the weekdays, therefore recommending a small chai shop next store to the hotel.
The room service menu is from the restaurant in the hotel, MG’s Fine Dining. I find this to be a great place to pop into for lunch or dinner, even if you’re not staying at the hotel. The prices are affordable and the amount of food you receive is adequate enough to keep you satisfied for the rest of the day (or until morning). The dining area is very dim and offers a romantic vibe with several seating arrangements. The tables are kept clean, having the silverware positioned on them. In addition to your meal, you can also enjoy a glass of wine or cocktail!
In fact, if you are wanting to enjoy a couple of after-dinner drinks, I recommend the Beetle Juice Bar on the top floor. This bar is cozy and offers indoor along with outdoor seating areas. You’ll be able to mellow out and relax on the patio chairs and couches, making it a hot spot to gather with your friends after a long day of shopping or site seeing. I recommend the outdoor seating, due to the amazing view of the city that surrounds you! Don’t forget to ask what the happy hour specials are on the drinks available!
The next day, for breakfast I had toast with jam and a few cups of chai. The strawberry jam was not overly sweet like most I’ve had in the past. Other breakfast options include sandwiches or an omelet, with the choice of coffee or chai. Each option costs about ₹200 ($3.04) and you get enough of your drink to make at least three cups! –Which is great because if you’re like me, you definitely require more than one cup each morning!
If you decide to venture out to explore the surrounding areas near the hotel, the Lalbagh Botanical Gardens are just a quick five-minute walk away. This is a wonderful place to relax and have a stroll with family or friends. If you’re wanting to explore the past and opt for a historical adventure, Tippu Sultan’s Fort is very close by, within walking distance. Venturing out a little further to Basavanagudi, a great neighborhood only 2.3 km (1.4 miles) away, you’ll be able to shop the outdoor marketplaces and also visit the Bull Temple! Though, you can always hop in a taxi to head towards MG road to shop thehigh-endd stores at MG Mall and Garuda Mall.
